Do both …
With one vehicle!
The ARVee has been on the drawing board for almost 15 years.
In the beginning . . . there was a 3D model . . .
Then came the professional design plans and cut files . . .
And, finally, the build . . .

What we have here is effectively an amphibious caravan. Just one parking space. One lot of registration, one insurance bill. and one whole lot of fun! The ARVee is all marine grade alloy, 5mm bottom, 4mm sides and 3mm house. It was professionally engineered and welded in Dunedin to my own design. Scott Robson produced the CNC (cut) files. It has been a long term project.

The hull is 8.6 metres long, 10 metres overall, including anchor roller, tow hitch and twin outboard engines. It has a beam of 2.5 metres and weighs just under 3.5 tonnes.
This example is powered by twin Etec 2 stroke engines, for steering manoeuvrability, and get home redundancy. They give a cruising speed of 7 knots and wide open throttle 10 knots.

The interior allows for a flexible layout. This example has a roomy head compartment with shower, vanity and electric TMC toilet. There is a full queen size berth under the cockpit, and provision for a further two singles. There is tankage space under the floor, for black, grey and fresh water. There is further room for underfloor fuel tanks, but currently we are running on tote tanks. What we have here is effectively an amphibious caravan. Just one parking space. One lot of registration, one insurance bill. and one whole lot of fun! The design is meant for sheltered waters, and naturally some compromises are involved.
